Buying a Journeyman
Buying a Journeyman is a process, not just a purchase. So this page has just a bit of basic information for the curious. Contact us for a more focused discussion!
For example, some people ask about the size: The Journeyman concept is applicable to blue water cruising yachts in the approximate range 48 – 70 foots. The first hull is 62 feet. The main factor behind the choice of size for the first hull was the fact that for lengths under 60 feet the downwind course stability in heavy seas will suffer, making the yacht more difficult to steer.
Since all sailors are different, I am expecting customers for a Journeyman series yacht to have many personal wishes for detailed solutions. The first hull is thus very much a prototype and proof of concept. However, for those interested in purchasing the first hull, it is available fully sail-away equipped according to the fact sheet at a price of approximately EUR 950 000 excl VAT.
For a complete new yacht, a design cycle of about 4-10 months plus a building time of about 14 months is to be expected.
