Today we started to put together the steering system. Only to discover that 1/3 of the parts had connection threads that didn’t match! They were all 3/8″, but different 3/8″… It seems no matter how much you follow the standards, there is always one more opportunity to change something into some other standard.

So I felt a little annoyed. But then when I got home I found some inspiration on xkcd, which illustrates one of the driving forces behind the Journeyman project in a very good way:

  1. The feeling of security is the biggest danger of all.

  2. Interesting remark! So if I’m feeling very insecure, it means I am rid of the biggest danger. Which makes me feel secure. Which puts me in danger…

  3. Yes, and in fact you are spot on to another danger/security issue, known to most sailors.
Security/danger is NOT static, it changes, even thou You might not be changing.
